Ravens at Browns: Baltimore goes to Cleveland without Lamar Jackson

Jackson has been ruled out with a sprained ankle for a second straight week. Tyler Huntley starts for the 4-1 Ravens against the 3-2 Browns.

Tailgate Rivals

The Baltimore Ravens visit the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, Oct. 18, in Week 6. Kickoff is noon Central (1 p.m. ET) on Fox at Huntington Bank Field.

Jackson out again

Ravens coach Jesse Minter announced Friday that quarterback Lamar Jackson is out for a second straight week with a sprained left ankle. Jackson has not practiced in two weeks. Tyler Huntley will start again.

Baltimore is 4-1 and leads the AFC North in Minter's first season, after he replaced John Harbaugh. The Ravens beat Indianapolis 41-23, lost 24-17 to New Orleans, beat Dallas 34-31 in Rio de Janeiro, beat Tennessee 24-18 and won 30-23 in overtime at Atlanta.

The Browns

Cleveland is 3-2, second in the division, under Todd Monken. After a 34-10 loss at Jacksonville in Week 1, the Browns won 23-19 at Tampa Bay, 21-18 over Carolina and 27-24 over Pittsburgh, then lost 17-12 at the New York Jets last Sunday.

The rivalry

The Ravens lead the regular-season series 39-15 in 54 meetings, and the teams have never met in the playoffs. Baltimore won both games last season: 41-17 at home and 23-16 in Cleveland on Nov. 16. The Browns won 29-24 in Cleveland in 2024, when Baltimore took the other game 35-10, and 33-31 in Baltimore in 2023.

The rivalry has its roots in Art Modell's announcement in November 1995 that he would move the Browns to Baltimore. Cleveland sued, and after a settlement in February 1996 the Browns were deactivated for three years. A new Browns team began play in 1999, and Modell's Baltimore team became the Ravens, who won Super Bowl XXXV in 2000.

Game day in Cleveland

Huntington Bank Field holds 67,431 and has no public parking of its own, so game-day tailgating happens in the adjacent lots, including city-owned lots. The Dawg Pound, the bleacher section behind the east end zone that opened with the stadium in 1999, is the home of the fans in dog masks. The name traces back to Hanford Dixon, Frank Minnifield and the 1985 defense.
